При переходе приходится присваивать новым, более крупным ячейкам такие свойства, как проницаемость, пористость, и так далее. Это не так просто сделать, так как простое усреднение свойств всех маленьких ячеек, которые теперь станут одной большой ячейкой, часто оказывается неадекватным. В том числе в процессе апскейлинга возникает проблема, связанная с тем, что прорыв воды и движение флюидов происходят быстрее, чем в более мелком масштабе. Это происходит потому, что жидкость, которая ранее за один временной шаг смещалась на одну маленькую ячейку, теперь смещается на одну большую ячейку. Для получения адекватной модели и адаптации модели к историческим данным (то есть подбора параметров пласта таким образом, чтобы исторические данные совпадали с результатами моделирования) оказывается полезным создание псевдофункций относительной проницаемости. Фактически создается новый график зависимости относительной проницаемости от насыщенности, где для небольших значений насыщенности относительная проницаемость снижена (тогда прорыв воды не наступает раньше времени), а для больших значений насыщенности - повышена (в качестве компенсации).English-Russian oil and gas dictionary with explanation > Upscaling
